» Design, build, construct and maintain a variety of essential drinking water, sewer, stormwater, park, fire, and police capital construction projects and facilities.
Develop and support Citywide and Police and Fire Information Service Systems.
» Develop and administer long-range and comprehensive planning activities as well as long-term neighborhood planning and public outreach programs that reflect and promote the community-built vision,goals, and framework.
» Develop and manage the emergency communications network and manage the Joint Information Center.
» Develop and produce a variety of citywide communication programs and publications including: Redmond Focus Magazine, the City’s web site, Redmond City Television programming, and the City
Government Guide.
» Develop long-range land use and transportation plans; review new developments to ensure city and state laws are followed; serve as a catalyst to help the community build partnerships in human services; and manage the City’s commute trip reduction programs.
» Help the community with their planning and permitting needs including electrical, building, plumbing, mechanical, etc. and review plans and inspect private development projects to ensure that safety and code requirements are met
» Maintain records of City Council meetings and all adopted ordinances, resolutions and contracts.
» Manage a variety of community programs, community events, and services.
» Manage a variety of media, marketing, and press relations, ensuring our good news gets out.
» Manage Farrel-McWhirter Farm, teach pony classes and distribute free compost to the community.
» Organize large-scale, free community events like Redmond Derby Days and Redmond Lights.
» Oversee and manage the transportation and signal operations of the City.
» Oversee garbage collection and run solid waste and recycling events.
» Plan, design and construct roads and bridges.
» Plan, design, coordinate, and construct new park developments.
» Preserve, protect, and restore streams, lakes, and wetlands.
» Protect water quality, fish, and wildlife.
» Protect and manage our drinking water supply.
» Protect Redmond’s natural beauty through a vibrant system of parks, trails and open spaces.
» Provide a wide array of administrative services including: budget development, citywide purchasing, payroll, accounts payable, fixed asset/inventory control, general accounting, utility billing, risk management, information services and business licenses, and records maintenance and retention.
Provide citizens of all ages and ability levels wholesome recreational and cultural opportunities in clean, safe and accessible facilities.
» Provide City Code oversight and work with the community to help resolve neighborhood grievances, help preserve the natural environment that we all enjoy, provide customer service for citizens who wish to file a complaint, and support the business community by answering inquiries regarding licensing, permitting and signage.
» Provide Financial Services and Operations support for all City Departments and Services such as Parks, Public Works, Police, Fire, Human Resources and Planning.
» Resolve and assist customers with a wide variety of issues.
» Run sports leagues throughout the year, including youth basketball, adult softball, coed volleyball, etc. as well as operate the aquatics program at Idylwood Beach Park.
» Study traffic problems and develop solutions.
